I feel like a complete and total fake for promising to continue my blog in my last post and then failing miserably. I had no idea how busy our holidays were going to be.
We had a wonderful Christmas. My brother was here from North Carolina, and my sister came home from Chicago, IL to celebrate with us. In addition to those visitors, we also had the pleasure of spending time with my sister-in-law Nichole and her family. She and her husband have three wonderful children - and we were lucky enough to spend a good amount of time with them while they were here.
Over the course of my Winter Break we had the opportunity to spend some time with family. We were blessed to be able to see both Charles Dickens' The Christmas Carol and Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Our nieces and nephew were seeing both for the first time live - and it was so neat to see things from their perspective and with their excitement.
Our holiday was pretty uneventful, but lovely all the same. Tony and I made a brief appearance at his extended family's Christmas party last Saturday and then hit the road for Kentucky. We went South to visit my biological father. While we were there we were also able to meet up with my biological mother and my sister for dinner. It was a wonderful, relaxing trip. We didn't do much besides visit - and that is exactly how we wanted it. I can say that I thought about blogging, albeit briefly, until I realized that what I had to say would be too much to type on my telephone's keyboard. So, I waited until we got home.
We got to stop and stay in a hotel on the way down and on the way back, which was a nice treat for both of us. We made it back to Indiana as the snow moved through on Thursday evening and, luckily, made it home with good weather and temperatures above zero on Friday. Since then we've been content to cuddle our puppies and hang around the house. :)
I'm very excited to report that my break has been extended by at least a day due to the extremely cold temperatures coming our way. I'm not happy about the cold necessarily, but I am thankful that I have a warm house to snuggle in and an extra day off work! Only time and temperature will tell as far as Tuesday goes. I'll try my best to get back on here before then -- stay warm!
