Protocol Update

I received a phone call from the nurse at our reproductive clinic this morning.  They had a monthly meeting and have decided to change our protocol.  I have two days of birth control left.  The clinic will have me go in for an ultrasound on day 2 of my cycle.  Then, on day three, they want me to start taking 200 mg of Clomid orally, days three through seven.  I've taken Clomid before, when we were trying intrauterine inseminations.  Clomid blocks estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus and stimulates ovulation.  I believe their hope is that this will jump-start the process so that the injected medications are more effective.  I will begin injecting the medications on day five of my cycle, while still taking Clomid through day seven.  After day seven, I believe I will be proceeding with just the medications that are injected into the stomach.  I won't go into detail, some people don't like to hear about me having to give myself shots :)

Every time we've done this I think it will get easier not to get exci
ted.  Yeah, right!  It's getting to the point where I can feel hope creeping in again...and you know what?  I kind of like it!  After a couple disappointments and trying desperately to remain positive and hopeful, it is a welcome distraction to have the whispers of possibilities come back into our lives.  I cannot wait for what this journey may bring.  Thanks for being here to share the ride!
